Grief: You are Not Alone

by Mike Prah on October 03, 2020

Grief Devotion: Raymond Addo is Not Here, But You Are Not Alone!

Grief is real, and it hurts. The deep, loving relationships we have with God and others are what makes life meaningful and fulfilling. But when relationships are broken through death, the pain and loss we feel can be unbearable.

In these situations, God may seem silent, even distant. But truly God is here with you, already working to bring you through the difficult but necessary stages of the grieving process to a new place of recovery and wholesomeness. Your loved one, Raymond Addo is not here, but God is always with you!

Jesus personally felt the very grief that you are now experiencing, and He can help you. Over time, God will bring you through situations you think you won’t survive or feel you’ll be stuck in forever. God will make you comfortable in the most uncomfortable places and give you peace in the midst of trauma.

As you try to deal with your grief, remember these truths: God’s comfort is real. The Holy Spirit, the Comforter, lives in you, working overtime to heal your broken heart and bring peace, comfort, and unimaginable favor to you. Also, God’s Word is an essential source of comfort for us as we navigate difficult times. Further, the language of the spiritual world is prayer. Prayer and God’s Word are our sources of power, victory, peace, joy, and everything else we need to get through life’s setbacks.

Finally, while grief may tempt us to isolate ourselves and push others away, offers of sympathy and help from people are a necessary part of our recovery. There is no safer haven here on earth than a loving, supportive family, friends, and church family. Please know that many people love you and understand the grief you are experiencing, and God will use their affirmations of love as a healing salve.

Reflect on these promises:

“For no one is abandoned by the Lord forever. Though He brings grief, He also shows compassion because of the greatness of His unfailing love. For He does not enjoy hurting people or causing them sorrow.” Lamentations 3:31-33

“I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

“Nothing is impossible with God.” Luke 1:37

Here’s a prayer for you:

God, our Father, I lift up Ray’s family before You. I pray that You bring them extraordinary comfort, peace, and strength in the midst of this life-shaking event.

Father, You know just what will minister to them, spiritually, emotionally, physically, and financially, and so right now, send forth Your blessing to meet every need.

Guide them with Your wisdom to make decisions and to handle any issues that may arise as arrangements are made and events take place.

Thank You for being the loving Father who walks with us even in the darkest valley. In Jesus name, Amen.

Please know that I’m praying for you continually.

Love you much,

Mike Prah
