Access to God | Bible Study | Mike Prah

    Introduction

As humans, we require access to God to help us find purpose, meaning, power, and guidance in life. God is the “fountain (source) of life” (Ps. 36:9; Jer 2:13; John 4:14), and having a strong connection with God causes us to grow and experience extraordinary transformation. This study covers how we gain access to God, why we need to pursue access to God, and the blessings connected with gaining access to God.

Access to God is Only By Christ

We may obtain access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ and by Him alone—not through priest or pope, Mary or the angels, good works or tears.

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 (NIV)

“We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.” Romans 5:1-2 (NIV)

“Now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once, you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to Him through the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:13 (NLT)

“This was God’s eternal plan, which He carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord. Because of Christ and our faith in Him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.” Ephesians 3:11-12 (NLT)

“Therefore Christ is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them.” Hebrews 7:25 (NIV)

“So, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus.” Hebrews 10:19 (NLT)

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit” 1 Peter 3:18 (NKJV)

We Have Access to God By Christ Through the Holy Spirit

“Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.” Ephesians 2:18 (NLT)

Our Act of Faith in God Grants Us Access to God

“Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)

“We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.” Romans 5:1-2 (NIV)

“This was God’s eternal plan, which He carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord. Because of Christ and our faith in Him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.” Ephesians 3:11-12 (NLT)

We Have Access to God Through Prayer

    • Prayer is our direct line of communication to God. When you need to feel His love, power, protection, assurance, and presence, just pray!

“What great nation ever had their gods as near to them as the Lord our God is near to us whenever we pray to Him?” Deuteronomy 4:7 (NKJV)

“This was God’s eternal plan, which He carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord. Because of Christ and our faith in Him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.” Ephesians 3:11-12 (NLT)

We Obtain Mercy, Grace, and Help Through Our Access to God

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)

Blessedness Connected with Access to God

“The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.” Psalm 145:18 (NKJV)

“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11 (NKJV)

“Blessed is the person you choose and invite to live with you in your courtyards. We will be filled with good food from your house, from your holy temple.” Psalm 65:4 (GW)

“But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.” Psalm 73:28 (NLT)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity” Jeremiah 29:11-14 (NIV)

God’s Children Must Earnestly Seek After God

“I have asked the Lord for one thing; one thing only do I want: to live in the Lord's house all my life, to marvel there at His goodness, and to ask for His guidance.” Psalm 27:4 (GN)

“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” Psalm 42:1-2 (NIV)

“How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of Heaven’s Armies. 2 I long, yes, I faint with longing to enter the courts of the Lord. With my whole being, body and soul, I will shout joyfully to the living God.” Psalm 84:1-2 (NLT)
