MOSES: MAKING CHOICES FOR TRANSFORMATIONAL LIFE CHANGE

HEBREWS 11:23-27

TRUSTING GOD TO OPEN DOORS Series – Pt 8

Mike Prah – February 21, 2021

Jesus: “Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.” John 10:9 NLT

“He [God] lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, placing them in seats of honor. For all the earth is the LORD’s” 1 Samuel 2: 8 (NLT)

“By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose instead to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than all the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward in heaven. By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw Him who is invisible.” Hebrews 11:23-27 (NIV84)

  1. I MUST   TO BE DEFINED BY OTHERS

“By faith, Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as  the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.”   Hebrews 11:24 (NIV)

“Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mold, but let God remold your minds from within, so that you may prove in practice that the plan of God for you is good...”  Romans 12:2 (Ph)

“You must not follow the crowd in doing wrong!”  Exodus 23:2 ( NLT)

"Our purpose is to please God, not people. He is the One who examines the motives of our hearts.”  1 Thessalonians 2:4 (NLT)

Jesus: “They [my disciples] are no more defined by the world than I am defined by the world!”  John 17:16 (MSG)

“I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”   Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)

 2. I MUST CHOOSE  , NOT THE WORLD’S

“Moses regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.”          Hebrews 11:26 (NIV)

 WHAT THE WORLD VALUES

Popularity (Prestige & Power) vs. 24

Pleasure  “the pleasures of sin”   vs. 25

Possessions  “the treasures of Egypt” vs. 26

       WHAT GOD VALUES

1. God’s  is more valuable than popularity

“By faith, Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as  the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.”   Hebrews 11:24 (NIV)

 2.   are more valuable than pleasure

“Moses chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time.” Hebrews11:25 (NIV)

3.   is more valuable than possessions

“Moses regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.”  Hebrews 11:26 (NIV)

“The world and everything in it that people desire is passing away; but those who do the will of God live forever.”   1 John 2:17 (GN)

“Moses regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.”   Hebrews 11:26 (NIV)

“Christ has shown me that what I once thought was valuable is worthless. Nothing is as wonderful as knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have given up everything else and count it all as garbage. All I want is Christ and to know that I belong to Him … God accepted me simply because of my faith in Christ.” Philippians 3:7-9 (CEV)

“God can do anything – FAR MORE than you could ever imagine or guess or request or dream in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working gently within us.”  Ephesians 3:20 (MSG)
