THE WHEN, WHY & HOW OF PATIENCE TO BE BLESSED
JAMES: PRACTICAL GRACE-FILLED LIVING Series- Pt 13 of 15
James 5:7-11 | Mike Prah | August 28, 2022

“Be patient, then, my friends, until the Lord comes. See how patient farmers are as they wait for their land to produce precious crops. They wait patiently for the autumn and spring rains. 8 You also must be patient. Keep your hopes high, for the day of the Lord's coming is near. 9 Do not complain against one another, my friends, so that God will not judge you. The Judge is near, ready to appear. 10 My friends, remember the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. Take them as examples of patient endurance under suffering. 11 We call them happy because they endured. You have heard of Job's patience, and you know how the Lord provided for him in the end. For the Lord is full of mercy and compassion.” James 5:7-11 (GN)

III. HOW SHOULD I BE PATIENT WHILE I'M WAITING ON GOD?

 1. WAIT EXPECTANTLY

“Be patient, then, my friends, until the Lord comes. See how patient farmers are as they wait for their land to produce precious crops. They wait patiently for the autumn and spring rains.” James 5:7(GN)

"I wait expectantly, trusting God to help, for He has promised."  Psalm 130:5 (LB)

"You will know that I am the Lord. No one who waits for my help will be disappointed."  Isaiah 49:23 (GN)

 2. WAIT QUIETLY

“Do not complain against one another, my friends, so that God will not judge you. The Judge is near, ready to appear.” James 5:9 (GN)

"It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord." Lamentations 3:26 (NIV)

“These things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!” Habakkuk 2:3 (LB)

 3. WAIT CONFIDENTLY

“You have heard of Job's patience, and you know how the Lord provided for him in the end. For the Lord is full of mercy and compassion.” James 5:11b (GN)

“As for me, I look to the LORD for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me.” Micah 7:7 (NLT)

"Be still in the presence of the LORD and wait patiently for Him to act."  Psalm 37:7 (NLT)
