HOW TO GUIDED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
PENTECOST
Mike Prah | To Connect Text Hello to 240-594-9600 | favorlife.org

“The Lord is MY Shepherd, I have everything I need. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. HE LEADS ME in the right paths for his name’s sake” Psalm 23:1-3

“Only those people who are led by God’s Spirit are God’s children.” Romans 8:14 (CEV)

“We all, who reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit” 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV+GN)

“Do not quench the Spirit” 1 Thessalonians 5:19 (NIV)

“Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption” Ephesians 4:30 (NIV)

THINGS TO STOP …

 1. I CANNOT FOLLOW A CULTURE THAT DOESN’T FOLLOW GOD!

“You must not follow the crowd in doing wrong” Exodus 23:2 (NLT)

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” Romans 12:2 (NLT)

 2. I MUST REFUSE TO FOLLOW FRIENDS WHO ARE NOT LED BY GOD

“Do not let anyone lead you the wrong way. Christ is righteous. So to be like Christ a person must do what is right … anyone who continues to sin belongs to the Devil” 1 John 3:7 (NCV)

God: “You will be my spokesperson. You are to influence them but do not let them influence you!" Jeremiah 15:19 (NLT)

 3. I CAN NOT LOOK TO OTHER SOURCES BESIDES GOD

“You [God] bless all who depend on You for their strength.”  Psalm 84:5a (CEV)

“The LORD is good to those who depend on Him, to those who search for Him.” Lamentations 3:25 (NLT)

“Never … practice black magic, fortunetelling, witchcraft, psychics, call forth the spirits of the dead or try to explain the meaning of signs or TALK WITH the spirits of dead people. The Lord hates anyone who does these things.” Deuteronomy 18:10-12 (GW+NCV)

“You cannot drink from the cup at the Lord’s Table and at Satan’s table, too. You cannot eat bread both at the Lord’s Table and at Satan’s table. What? Are you tempting the Lord to be angry with you? Are you stronger than He is?” 1 Corinthians 10:21-22 (LB)

HABITS TO START OR CONTINUE …

1. I MUST BE WILLING TO OBEY GOD

“The Lord All-Powerful said: “You people are precious to me. I will protect you, just as parents protect an obedient child. Then everyone will see the difference between those who obey me by doing right and those who reject me by doing wrong.” Malachi 3:17-18 (CEV)

 2. I MUST RELY ON THE BIBLE

"Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet, and a light for my path" Psalm 119:105 (NLT)

"Guide my steps by your Word, so I will not be overcome by evil" Psalm 119:133 (NLT)

 3. I MUST ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT TO CONTROL ME

“The Spirit of the Lord God has taken control of me! He has sent me to tell the oppressed the good news, to heal the brokenhearted, and to announce freedom for prisoners and captives. This is the year when the Lord God will show kindness to us and punish our enemies” Isaiah 61:1-2 (CEV)

“They will REBUILD the ancient ruins and RESTORE the places long devastated; they will RENEW the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations” Isaiah 61:4 (NIV)
