PENTECOST: THE PEOPLE GOD BLESSES

Acts 2

1.  IF WE WANT GOD’S BLESSING, WE MUST   FOR GOD’S  

 You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you …”  Acts 1:8 (NIV)

 “They all met together and were constantly united in prayer with a single purpose in mind …” Acts 1:14 (NLT+CEV)

 “When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.  Suddenly a noise like a strong, blowing wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw something like flames of fire that were separated and stood over each person there. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak different languages by the power the Holy Spirit was giving them.”  Acts 2:1-4 (NCV)

 “Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles” Acts 2:43 (NIV)

 2. IF WE WANT GOD’S BLESSING, WE MUST BE   TO GOD’S  

 “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching…” Acts 2:42a (NLT)

 “Peter addressed the crowd: ‘… let me explain this to you … This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel…  I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below…  And EVERYONE who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”  Acts 2:14,16,19,21

 THE GOSPEL WE SHARE: Acts 2

- Jesus is God! His miracles prove it (Acts 2:22)

-  He died on the cross (Acts 2:23)

-  God raised him back to life (Acts 2:24-32)

-  This gives us gladness, joy & hope! (Acts 2:26)

-  He has sent his Spirit from heaven  (Acts 2:33-35)

-  We must repent & be baptized Acts (Acts 2:36-38)

-  We will be given his Holy Spirit Acts (Acts 2:38b-39)

-  We must live differently from the world (Acts 2:40)

 3. IF WE WANT GOD’S BLESSING, WE MUST  EACH OTHER DEEPLY

 Jesus: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." Acts 13:34-35 (NIV)

 “They spent their time in learning from the apostles, taking part in the fellowship, and sharing in the fellowship meals and the prayers.” Acts 2:42 (GN)

 “They spent their time learning from the apostles, and they were like family to each other. They also broke bread and prayed together.” Acts 2:42 (CEV)

 “All the believers continued together in close fellowship” Acts 2:44 (GN)

 “All the believers lived in wonderful harmony” Acts 2:44 (MSG)

 “They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity.” Acts 2:46 (NLT)

 4. IF WE WANT GOD’S BLESSING, WE MUST WORSHIP WITH INTENSE  

 “They continued to WORSHIP TOGETHER in the TEMPLE COURTS… PRAISING God and ENJOYING the favor of all the people.”  Acts 2:46-47 (NIV+NLT)

 “You have shown me the paths that lead to life, and your presence will fill me with joy!”  Acts 2:28 (GN)

 “Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope” Acts 2:26 (NIV)

 “People liked what they SAW. So every day their number grew as God added those who were saved.” Acts 2:47 (MSG)

 “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my WITNESSES, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (NLT)
