HOW TO PRAY EFFECTIVELY FOR WONDERFUL RESULTS
JAMES: PRACTICAL GRACE-FILLED LIVING Series- Pt 15 of 15
James 5:13-18 | Mike Prah | September 11, 2022

“Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. 14 Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. 16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. 17 Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! 18 Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.” James 5:13-18 (NLT)

"The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” James 5:16b (NLT)

III. HOW CAN I PRAY EFFECTIVELY?

 1. I MUST ASK SPECIFICALLY

“You don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.” James 4:2 (NLT)

 2. I MUST HAVE THE RIGHT MOTIVE

“Even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.” James 4:3 (NLT)

 3. I MUST HAVE A CLEAN LIFE

"The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” James 5:16b (NLT)

“If I had ignored my sins, the Lord would not have listened to me.” Psalm 66:18 (GN)

“If you do not obey the law, God will find your prayers too hateful to hear.” Proverbs 28:9 (GN)

 4. I MUST ASK IN FAITH (EXPECTING)

“When you ask Him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.” James 1:6 -7(NLT)

"The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” James 5:16b (NLT)
