The Fear Nots of Christmas

Unwrapping The Real Christmas Gifts – Pt3

Mike Prah | favorlife.org

“Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.  He will be delivered over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him and spit on him; they will flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.” Luke 18:30-33 (NIV)

POWER POINT

We all face fear, but it is ungodly to let fear control your life.

Trusting in God diminishes fear!

“But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.” Luke 1:13 (NKJV)

“Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.” Luke 1:30 (NKJV)

“Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.” Luke 2:10 (NKJV)

"Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John." Luke 1:11-13 (NIV)

 1. GOD STILL ANSWERS PRAYER

"The Lord hears His people when they call to Him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles." Psalm 34:17 (NLT)

Jesus: "Whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Matthew 21:22 (NKJV)

"You don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it." James 4:2 (NLT)

"The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous." Proverbs 15:29 (NIV)

Jesus: "I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son." John 14:13 (NIV)

2. GOD STILL KEEPS HIS PROMISES

"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel," which means “God with us." Matthew 1:21-23 (NIV)

"God is not like people. He tells no lies. He is not like humans. He doesn’t change His mind. When He says something, He does it. When He makes a promise, He keeps it." Numbers 23:19 (GW)

"If we are faithless, God remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself." 2 Timothy 2:13 (NKJV)

"The Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call Him Immanuel." Isaiah 7:14 (NIV)

“The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close.” Psalm 27:1, 10 (NLT)

3. GOD STILL HAS A PURPOSE FOR MY LIFE

“There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:8-12 (NIV)

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18 (NIV)

"God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love …” 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie! Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by. Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting light; the hopes and fears of all the years are met in Thee tonight.
