THE WHY OF PATIENCE TO BE BLESSED
JAMES: PRACTICAL GRACE-FILLED LIVING Series- Pt 13 of 15
James 5:7-11 | Mike Prah | August 28, 2022

“Be patient, then, my friends, until the Lord comes. See how patient farmers are as they wait for their land to produce precious crops. They wait patiently for the autumn and spring rains. 8 You also must be patient. Keep your hopes high, for the day of the Lord's coming is near. 9 Do not complain against one another, my friends, so that God will not judge you. The Judge is near, ready to appear. 10 My friends, remember the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. Take them as examples of patient endurance under suffering. 11 We call them happy because they endured. You have heard of Job's patience, and you know how the Lord provided for him in the end. For the Lord is full of mercy and compassion.” James 5:7-11 (GN)

II. WHY SHOULD I BE PATIENT?

1. BE PATIENT BECAUSE GOD IS IN CONTROL

"You also must be patient. Keep your hopes high, for the day of the Lord's coming is near.” James 5:8 (GN)

“So must you be patient, resting your hearts on the ultimate certainty. The Lord’s coming is very near.” James 5:8 (Ph.)

 2. BE PATIENT BECAUSE GOD REWARDS PATIENCE

“We consider those who endure to be blessed.”  James 5:11 (GW)

“God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven.” Matthew 5:11-12 (NLT)

 3. BE PATIENT BECAUSE GOD IS WORKING THINGS OUT

“You have heard of Job's patience, and you know how the Lord provided for him in the end. For the Lord is full of mercy and compassion.” James 5:11b (GN)

“I, too, have been assigned months of futility, long and weary nights of misery” Job 7:3 (NLT)

“Jesus replied, “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.” John 13:7 (NLT)

“God is always at work in you to make you willing and able to obey his own purpose.” Philippians 2:13 (GN)

“We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, [those] who have been called according to His purpose.”  Romans 8:28 (NIV)
